It is amazing how many people are willing to help you. Working through the Library2Play activity this summer I commented on a post by a teacher in Australia who has recently started podcasting with her students. Speaking for all of us, I know we’d love to set up a skype visit with you and/or some of your students. It would be so exciting for our students to have that opportunity. Our group working with the grant will be getting together soon to hash out our plans. We are currently on summer break for about one more month, but I can guarantee you will be hearing from us soon.

1. I almost forgot, but if you are looking for photos, clipart, soundbites or music to use in your podcasts or vodcasts or blog pages, I kept a list of good sites that offer royalty free stuff, here: http://marynabadenhorst.globalteacher.org.au/royalty-free-stuff/
2. You could also transform any PowerPoint into a vodcast using Photostory (software available as free download from the web), by saving the PowerPoint slides as JPEGs and then importing these JPEGs into Photostory. You can record your own voice or use other music with this software. Save product as a movie, download to USB for putting on any laptop or computer, or just put onto your iPod or MP4 player. Thanks for the great feedback! I am a teaching and learning coach and work with many teachers in many different schools. Would you guys like to hook up via skype in the future? We could make that happen if we could set the time (taking time difference into account!) Also, please forward your blog links so I can forward it to the schools, perhaps you will find some of our students or teachers here may leave comments for you over there. Blogs are a really good way of keeping a diary of the steps you took in your journey. Reading about it later always makes you feel good to see how far you've come, especially on the days you feel you have not achieved much.

ReplyDeleteThank you for thinking about us. It took us a little longer than we anticipated to get our equipment in and get things set up to start. We have one class using our new iTouches this week and we are working on a schedule so each of us involved in the program can have an opportunity to use the devices we ordered. We just received our new netbook computers which will enable us to get things posted on the web. We will certainly be checking out your links and using your tips to help us get started. My broadcast and journalism classes are finally about finished with their first actual news stories, so I’m hoping I can get them up as podcasts quickly. It would be nice for the students to get to post something soon.

ReplyDeleteI am just wondering how your podcasting went? Are you still creating digital stories, and if so, what have you found to be beneficial? I am now running my own tutoring business, and am still creating short, targeted teaching videos for students to help them remember basic Maths or English strategies. Hope things are going great at your end.
